Top 10 Things To Do During The First Semester Of My Junior Year

  1. Make sure you are meeting the A-G Requirements
    1. Create a Educational Plan with your Counselor
    2. Discuss your plan with your parents
  2. Pass all classes with a C or higher
  3. Research at least 10 colleges
    1. www.californiacolleges.edu
    2. Most colleges have a Face Book page.
    3. Visit colleges either in person or through virtual tours.
  4. Create a CSU Mentor and California Colleges account: www.csumentor.edu and www.californiacolleges.edu
    1. Use your School username
    2. Use your school ID number for PW
  5. Complete the High School Planner through California colleges for UC/CSU Planner using current transcript. You can also do the Independent Planner if you would like.
  6. Sign up take the PSAT in October
  7. Sign up to take the SAT and the ACT  with Writing during the Spring. ( Sign up by December)
    1. Create accounts at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org
    2. See counseling for fee waiver information if needed
    3. Take again during summer (Sigh up by March)
  8. Take the SAT II Subject tests during Spring or Summer (UC Bound students only)
  9. Start thinking about paying for college.
    1. Visit the OHHS Career Center
    2. Apply for at least 1 scholarship per month
      1. Complete Auto Biography
      2. Start a student portfolio with achievements and volunteer information.
    1. Create an account at www. Studentaid.ed.gov and research with your parents the financial aid process. (Use your school username and ID Number)
  1. Create a College Email Account
    1. Be discrete and conservative with your email address, I suggest your OHHS username, i.e.: Hargular@hotmail.com
    2. Get in the habit of checking the email account weekly
