Top 10 Things To Do During The First Semester Of My Junior Year
College Bound
- Make sure you are meeting the A-G Requirements
- Create a Educational Plan with your Counselor
- Discuss your plan with your parents
- Pass all classes with a C or higher
- Research at least 10 colleges
- www.californiacolleges.edu
- Most colleges have a Face Book page.
- Visit colleges either in person or through virtual tours.
- Create a CSU Mentor and California Colleges account: www.csumentor.edu and www.californiacolleges.edu
- Use your School username
- Use your school ID number for PW
- Complete the High School Planner through California colleges for UC/CSU Planner using current transcript. You can also do the Independent Planner if you would like.
- Sign up take the PSAT in October
- Sign up to take the SAT and the ACT with Writing during the Spring. ( Sign up by December)
- Create accounts at www.collegeboard.com and www.actstudent.org
- See counseling for fee waiver information if needed
- Take again during summer (Sigh up by March)
- Take the SAT II Subject tests during Spring or Summer (UC Bound students only)
- Start thinking about paying for college.
- Visit the OHHS Career Center
- Apply for at least 1 scholarship per month
- Complete Auto Biography
- Start a student portfolio with achievements and volunteer information.
- Create an account at www. Studentaid.ed.gov and research with your parents the financial aid process. (Use your school username and ID Number)
- Create a College Email Account
- Be discrete and conservative with your email address, I suggest your OHHS username, i.e.: Hargular@hotmail.com
- Get in the habit of checking the email account weekly
