As an incoming freshman, I wish I knew…

(Created by students at Oak Hills High School)
…that the workload would be a lot heavier.
…that I knew how to plan out my time better.
…that high school wouldn’t be perfect and my classes were not going to be easy.
…that being a freshman isn’t so bad and that there is nothing to be afraid of.
…to become more involved from the beginning and get more information on clubs.
…how hard the athletic department was going to work this year, so I could have been preparing during the summer.  I would have ran and worked- out.
…how great the Oak Hills staff would be and I would have gotten to know them better.
…how fun ASB is.
…that falling behind even one bit is one bit too much.
…how challenging it is.
…that it is possible to accomplish all your goals.
…that high school is nowhere near what it is like on TV.
…that there were six pep rallies.
…that it is nothing like junior high.
…that is hard to catch up on work.
…that grades drop easy.
…that daily planners would be very helpful.
…that knowing your way around campus is very helpful.
…that ASB would do so many activities.
…that classes were made to fit the students.
…that it would be a lot of fun.
…that there would be a lot of students.
…that it is really important to be ready for college and fill out scholarship applications.
…that procrastinating is a very bad thing.
…that if you don’t understand something there is always afterschool tutoring.
…that English I Honors is hard.
…that I would make a lot of new and wonderful friends.
…that some classes are mixed with all grade levels.
…how to manage my homework.
…how to prepare for the simple, little drama.
…that there’s no time to mess around.
…how important it would be to come every day.
…that high school is a journey that should be shared with special people and that nothing should be taken for granted.
